You want to learn more about little old me?
I’m flattered :)
I was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, but I’ve lived in Cary, North Carolina for essentially my whole life. My family is from Pakistan, and my favorite memories are the summers spent at my Ammi’s house in Karachi with my younger cousins. I started writing in high school and I never looked back. Now, I’m at UNC studying journalism and information science.
I’ve been heavily involved in my student newspaper, The Daily Tar Heel, as a writer, assistant editor and finally as Community Engagement Managing Editor. My graphic design projects have won various awards of excellence from the Society of News Design, and my student portfolio received a bronze medal—one of only two student portfolios to do so (and the only two to place).
You can read my work at The Daily Tar Heel, INDY Week, The Durham VOICE and the Southern Environmental Law Center. This summer, I am interning at The Current as a Dow Jones News Fund audience engagement intern.
