My name is Daneen, and I'm a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Media and Journalism and Information Science.

I’m passionate about digital news media, especially in the intersections of enterprise journalism, visual storytelling and local audience service. My goal is to work in a digital-first newsroom as a reporter or graphic designer. I care about producing accurate, timely news — but I also want to make sure that news is engaging for expansive audiences.

The news industry is rapidly changing. You’ll find me at the forefront of the new media landscape.

A little more about me: I love time travel tropes in books, any chocolate-flavored dessert and the colors in a good sunset. I’m a Pakistani-American Muslim woman, and I care deeply about making journalism a more accessible and welcoming field for people from underrepresented communities. When I’m not panicking because Adobe Illustrator crashed again or writing my next byline, you can usually find me bookmarking Substack posts I’ll never read, watching Spider-Man edits or chatting with my friends over an iced chai.

Before anything, I am a storyteller. I hope this site tells you a little more about mine.
